The Estate At Ballygarry

At the beginning of 2020 we embarked on a journey, transitioning from Ballygarry House to Ballygarry Estate.

Whilst at first this may have seemed like a challenge, but with the right drive, vision & a hard-working team behind us we felt that anything was possible. Our estate journey has been an eventful one, we faced a variety of different challenges along the way including a global pandemic, but we got there in the end & are so proud of what we have achieved so far.

Working towards a carbon negative estate

  • Extend Hotel Grounds to 100 acres by Rewilding previous farm land
  • Build an On-Site Apiary & Insect Hotel
  • Be declared as a National Conservation Area for the Native Irish Honey Bee, which are currently under threat
  • Plant 29,000 Trees
  • Plant a Wildflower Meadow & Bluebell Woodlands.
  • Purchase all Green Energy
  • Remove Single Use Plastics from Hotel
  • Become the First Hotel in Ireland to have both Destination & Tesla Superchargers
  • Create an Integrated Wetlands which treats all water from the hotel & attracts new wild life
  • Ensure the reeds within the wetlands will help to offset the carbon footprint of the hotels energy usage to co-inside with our efforts in becoming carbon neutral
  • Installing an on-site Solar Farm (Planning in progress)
  • Connecting our Estate Trails to Kerry Greenways

Estate Trail Loops

At the moment we have 3 Estate Trail Loops which are Open for the Public to Enjoy!

  • 700m Garden Loop
  • 2.5km Estate Trail Path
  • 5km Estate Trail Path

You can walk/run these trails, or alternatively cycle them on our hotel bikes.

Along the trails you will find numerous information boards highlighting all of the interesting points you will come across along the way e.g. Fulacht Fiadhs etc.

This Autumn we will build two bridges which will adjoin the 16th Century Ballyseedy woods which in turn will expand our estate by an additional 80 acres & create a 7.5km Trail Path.

In 2023 we have plans to align with Kerry County Council’s Green Way Project so that once launched, one can Walk/Cycle from the Hotel to the Wild Atlantic Coast.
